Jan Dijkgraaf, the biographer of the Meilandjes, responds for the first time to the fierce parking lot gossip about paterfamilias Martin Meiland. “I’m going to make it clear how the hares run.”
It is suddenly bizarrely quiet about what happened on Thursday evening in Today Inside: Wilfred Genee has so much there sleaze and dirt spread over Martien Meiland, which has completely turned his image upside down. The cozy pink uncle with those cheerful scarves is suddenly portrayed as a wild animal that does parking lots.
Cucumber fun
Martien is silent as the grave and did not want to accept flowers from Shownieuws two days later on his birthday and that is of course saying something. After all, if nonsense is being spread about you, a denial is very easy. On the other hand: why should the reality star even have to answer for this kind of naughty cucumber fun?
Jan Dijkgraaf, the biographer of the Meilandjes, is now going into his podcast Bassie and Jan Mosque in short. At one point he says jokingly that he is not from clickbait, but from ‘important news’.
Gossiping Wilfred
What important news? “Well, I’d rather go see Wilfred Genee to see if he’s still reading gossip from his girlfriend Valérie Lampereur about my good friend Martien Meiland. I find that more interesting,” he says cynically. Then: “We’ll have to talk about that another time.”
The source of this spicy parking lot gossip is Valérie’s new book about the ‘exiled house friend’ of the Meilandjes: Caroline van Eeden. And Valérie is friends with Wilfred again.
Hares walk
At the end of the podcast, Jan briefly returns to that book one more time. “Yes, there will be another book. Oh, you mean that Caroline’s book. House friend, housekeeper, housekeeper… Who came to the château in 2019, a few months. Yes, I said something about that. But I think that’s a topic in itself for once.”
That sounds like an imminent attack on Caroline and Valérie: exciting. “Yes. To make it clear how things are going and how things like that go.”
‘Very happy’
Is Jan angry about Caroline’s new book? No. “Of course I am very happy with the arrival of that book, because yes, you can see that our book sales are picking up again.”
Jan can say it himself real time see if another book is sold. “If you pressed the button now, I would see that another issue has been ordered and will be packed tonight. That’s how it works there. Nice huh?”
