The track was composed by Billie Eilish along with her brother FINNEAS exclusively for Gerwig’s new film. FINNEAS took over the production in his home studio in Los Angeles. The piece, which is more than four minutes long, comes with a calm piano accompaniment to the artist’s characteristically whispering singing. With lyric lines like “Think I forgot / How to be happy / Something I’m not / But something I can be / Something I wait for / Something I’m made for / Something I’m made for,” the song offers a somber sad touch to the at first glance extremely gaudy and cheerful setting from the “Barbie” film with Margot Robbie in the leading role.

The soundtrack itself will be available to stream everywhere starting July 21st. Also featured are Ava Max, Sam Smith and Dua Lipa. Ryan Gosling, who plays Barbie’s boyfriend Ken, also contributed to the film’s soundtrack with the ballad “I’m Just Ken.”
