Billie Eilish and Peter Gabriel advocate for stronger gun control

Several artists have come together as “Artists For Action To Prevent Gun Violence”. The organization, which describes itself as “non-political,” aims to persuade people to advocate for greater gun control in the United States. Billie Eilish and Peter Gabriel, among others, are also involved in the campaign.

In a new video that on the organization’s website can be seen, the “Artists For Action” speak out against gun violence and call for more gun control. “As much as I love the United States, I am always shocked at the ease with which people can get their hands on weapons,” Peter Gabriel says in the video.

The campaign was initiated by Mark Barden, a musician whose son lost his life in the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in 2012. In the clip, he shares the organization’s mission statement: “Our mission at Artists For Action is to build a coalition of musicians, artists, athletes and other influencers who are committed to the common cause of preventing gun violence.”

In addition to Eilish and Gabriel, Sheryl Crow, Nile Rodgers and Rufus Wainwright are also involved in the campaign. In December 2023, the musicians want to give a concert as part of the release of “A Father’s Promise,” the organization’s film. Details will follow. Another show will take place at Central Park SummerStage in 2024, coinciding with Gun Violence Awareness Month.
