Billie Eilish and Finneas share emotional message at ‘Concert for Ukraine’

On March 29, the benefit concert “Concert for Ukraine” was held by the British TV channel ITV. Billie Eilish and Finneas were unable to attend the concert but did appear in a video message of support.

The show raised funds for the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) in support of the people of Ukraine. The taping took place at the Resorts World Arena in Birmingham.

Just prior to the Manic Street Preachers performance, Eilish and Finneas performed via video. Eilish said: “Hi everyone, we are so sorry we cannot be there tonight but we still wanted to offer all our love and support to all who are performing and most importantly our support and solidarity with the millions of people at Expressing those who are forced to flee their homes and leave everything behind.”

Finneas added: “The charities that provide humanitarian aid do important work, so we want to thank them and you for giving everything you can.”

Later in the show, Ukraine’s 2014 ESC winner Jamala also made an appearance. She performed her single “1944”, with which she also won the ESC, and wore a Ukrainian flag during the performance.

Numerous other well-known musicians* performed on the show. In addition to Ed Sheeran, Camila Cabello, Emeli Sandé, Gregory Porter, Nile Rodgers and Chic, Tom Odell, Anne Marie, Snow Patrol and Becky Hill also starred.

All sponsorship and advertising revenue from broadcasting the event – which is expected to bring in over £3million – will be donated to the DEC fund by ITV.

Last weekend, Eilish and Finneas had even more reason to celebrate. The two won the Oscar for Best Song with their single “No Time To Die”.
