“I like men and women, who cares,” the singer now says via Instagram.
After “Variety” made her coming out public in an interview, Billie Eilish is now speaking out on her own Instagram channel. In an interview with the magazine, she explained that she finds women attractive and is attracted to them. Although she actually confirmed everything that was said and previously seemed to see the matter in a very relaxed manner, the singer now seems to approve of Variety’s handling of the issue, as she explains on the social media platform. In their opinion, it seems that the topic of coming out is being given too much emphasis.
Sexuality has often been discussed publicly
Billie Eilish’s love life has often been discussed in public. Just after she wrote “I love women” under one of her Instagram posts for her music video “Lost Cause”, new discussions were started, especially because she was only seen dating men in the past. In an interview with Variety, the musician addressed this topic and said: “I never really felt like I could relate well to women. I love her so much. I love them as peopleiI’m attracted to them as people, I’m really attracted to them.”
On the On the red carpet for the “Variety Hitmakers of the Year” event, Eilish was asked again about her queerness and coming out and she seemed rather surprised that the issue was still on the table: “I just think, why can’t we just exist? I’ve been doing this for a long time [auch Frauen daten, Anm. d. Red.] and just didn’t talk about it. Yikes. But I saw the article and thought, ‘Oh! I think I came out today.’”
“Please leave me alone with this.”
It now seems as if it wasn’t really in the 21-year-old’s interest to discuss her sexuality in such a big way. She writes in a recent Instagram post: “Thank you Variety for my award and also for outing me on a red carpet at 11am instead of talking about anything else that matters. I like men and women, please leave me alone, who cares.” Clear words from the “Ocean Eyes” singer and her fans are enthusiastic about her message.
For example, one follower writes: “I love you, Billie, we already knew it, girl, don’t worry.” Another person supports Eilish in her view: “Yes, can we just let queer people live, please?” Billie Eilish also directly hid a suggestion in her post about what people could do instead of dealing with their sexuality: “ Stream ‘What Was I Made For'”.
