‘Best in the world’

Bayern lost 4-2 to VfL Bochum in the Bundesliga on Saturday. Sven Ulreich, Neuer’s replacement under the bar, had to concede all goals against before halftime. “Of course we miss Manuel, he is the best goalkeeper in the world for a reason,” says Nagelsmann. „But Sven has done well against Bochum. It was certainly not his fault that we played that way against Bochum.” Bayern Munich won all matches in the group stage of the Champions League and, like Ajax and Liverpool, qualified for the eighth finals with the maximum score of 18 points. Red Bull Salzburg finished second in the group behind Lille with 10 points.

“I heard them say at Salzburg that they are ready for a fight and that is a good sign,” Nagelsmann said. “They have a strong team, which is playing on this podium for the first time. It would be against their nature to avoid a challenge. And we’re not going to change our attacking philosophy either. In any case, it will be great to play in front of 30,000 spectators for the first time in a long time.”
