Bijou Brigitte makes less profit in the first half of the year

The Hamburg fashion jewelery chain Bijou Brigitte Modest Accessoires AG increased its sales significantly in the first six months of the 2023 financial year. However, the profit fell short of the previous year’s level. This is the result of preliminary figures that the company published in an ad hoc announcement on Thursday.

Accordingly, sales in the first half of the year amounted to 148.8 million euros. Compared to the same period of the previous year, this meant growth of 13.3 percent. However, consolidated earnings before taxes fell from EUR 11.7 to 9.2 million. The net profit, which was 8.3 million euros in the first half of last year, shrank to 6.2 million euros.

The decline in profit is “mainly due to inflation-related cost increases and one-off special effects that occurred in the previous year after returning from the pandemic,” the group said in a statement. The company intends to present its full half-year report in September.
