The Hamburg-based fashion jewelery supplier Bijou Brigitte Modest Accessoires AG returned to profitability in the first half of 2022. On Friday, the retailer said, citing preliminary figures, that it was able to achieve a net profit of 8.3 million euros in the months of January to June. In the corresponding period of the previous year, the company still had to record a loss of 20.7 million euros.

The positive earnings development is “mainly due to the increase in sales due to the omission of government corona protection measures in the first half of 2022 and to general cost savings,” the group said in an ad hoc release.

The chain store announced just over a month ago that it had more than doubled its half-year sales compared to the previous year. According to the figures now available, revenues rose from 63.4 to 131.3 million euros. In the first months of 2021, pandemic-related branch closures had a significant impact on business. The company intends to present its final results for the first six months in September. An updated annual forecast will then also be published.
