The two parents were walking on the dike with their twelve-year-old child on Thursday evening when they were hit by the wave. Witnesses immediately notified the emergency services, who arrived en masse with divers, helicopters and drones.
The two parents were found around 7:30 p.m. They had a cardiac arrest and rescue services were unable to resuscitate them. Their child’s lifeless body was recovered around 10 p.m.
The three other children of the family are unharmed. They were not on the dike.
