The realization of the new residential area Boermarke in Vlagtwedde at the initiative of the municipality of Westerwolde has been postponed for the time being.

According to him, the cause is a decision by the Council of State (made about a zoning plan in the province of Gelderland). He says that a zone of 50 meters, a so-called spraying zone, must be created between, for example, homes and agricultural activities where plant protection products may be used.
Otherwise look elsewhere
According to Kuper, such a zone should also be created at Boermarke. “But then we will lose two-thirds of the land on which we want homes.” That is why the plan will be put on hold for the time being and the municipal authorities will talk to landowners at the intended construction site. If land can be acquired from them, the zone can still be built. “If that doesn’t work, we’ll look for a suitable location elsewhere in Vlagtwedde,” said Kuper.
Westerwolde would like a new neighborhood in Vlagtwedde because there are hardly any homes available in that village.
