Sifan Hassan immediately won a major prize in her debut year in the marathon. The Dutch athlete was declared winner of the World Major series, good for a bonus of 50,000 dollars. It took a vote among the six directors of the marathons that are part of the leading circuit to appoint Hassan as the winner.
