The fire brigade was alerted at 8:04 pm, they were on site more than ten minutes later to extinguish the shed. The barn in which the horses and agricultural vehicles were stored stood against a larger barn. The smaller barn has completely burned out, the larger barn and the nearby house are being kept wet as a preventive measure to prevent the fire from spreading.

A spokesman for the fire service told NH News that it is still unclear how the fire started. Extinguishing was made more difficult because there are not many ditches near the shed. That is why, among other things, a so-called foam extinguishing vehicle and additional water transport vehicles have been deployed. Hay is currently being removed from the remains of the barn to prevent smoldering.

Mayor Gerard van den Hengel had also come to the affected farm, he said on Facebook. “To give support and listen if things are needed.” He also complimented the fire service for their performance.
