Jimmy Buffett announced on Facebook that he was undergoing hospital treatment and had to cancel a gig in Charleston, South Carolina.
The 76-year-old singer wrote: “I had a sudden change of plans this week that affected us all. Two days ago I just got back from a trip to the Bahamas, thawed from the California ‘Winter Tour’ and dying to come to Charleston. I had to make a stop in Boston for a check-up, but ended up back in the hospital to sort out some things that needed immediate attention.”
Buffett has already added that getting old is not for “sissies”. “I also promise you that when I’m well again, I’ll be performing in the land of crab soup,” he continued, before thanking his fans for their support. “You all make my life more meaningful and fulfilling than I could ever have imagined as a little boy tiptoeing in the waters of the Gulf of Mexico.”
The “Margaritaville” singer was scheduled to perform at Credit One Stadium in Charleston this Saturday (May 20). This is the second time in a year that Buffett has been in the hospital. Last September he had to postpone his tour, which was actually planned for 2022, to this year. It started in February, now there is another break.
