Stops in summer

Klos moved to DSC from Wolfsburg on a free transfer in the summer of 2011. Since then, according to the TM database, the crowd favorite has scored 178 goals and prepared 81 more in 444 competitive games. Numbers that are unsurpassed in the club’s history. Klos played in the first three professional leagues in the Arminia jersey between 2011 and 2024 and became both third and second division champions with Bielefeld. In 2013 and 2015 he led the top scorer ranking in the 3rd league at the end of the season, and in 2020 he was top scorer in the 2nd Bundesliga with 21 goals. This summer also marked his highest market value to date of one million euros,

“Fabi is a top performer, a person of respect and a great captain. I really enjoy working with him every day and, above all, having a trusting exchange on many topics. Fabi is and remains a player who has left an impressive mark on Arminia. Now our goal is to experience many more positive moments as a team, because Fabi will be wearing our jersey for several more months and lacing up his football boots for Arminia,” explained DSC coach Mitch Kniat.

Sports managing director Michael Mutzel attested: “Since my first day in Bielefeld, I have been able to experience first hand what Fabian means to Arminia and also what Arminia Fabian means. His sporting and human achievements are outstanding and I am glad that we can count on him in this challenging year. His motives for starting a new phase of life in the summer are understandable and respectable. I wish him only the best for this. Of course, he is always welcome in our dressing room even after his playing career.”

Bielefeld’s Klos will end his career in 2024: “It was anything but easy”

Klos explained his decision in the club’s announcement as follows: “Some decisions can’t just be made overnight. Often it is initially just a feeling that evaporates or becomes confirmed over time. And even when a big decision feels absolutely right, it’s ultimately difficult to make. This roughly describes my thoughts over the past few months.”

The 36-year-old also addressed the club’s supporters directly: “Dear friends, dear Arminen! I am proud to be able to say that I will never wear a jersey other than that of the German Sports Club again in my career! Because this career, with all its ups and downs, will end this summer. Even though this decision was anything but easy for me, the timing still feels right. There will be enough time in May for farewell words, emotions and probably tears. Until then, I’m just looking forward to continuing to be part of this club and this team and hope for many great moments with all of you! My heart is blue and always will be! Your Fabi”
