Biden visits Poland shortly before first anniversary of Russian invasion | Abroad

Biden will meet his counterpart Andrzej Duda in Poland and will give a speech on the occasion of that first anniversary. The US president will reiterate the support of the United States and its allies for Ukraine.

In addition, the US president will see the leaders of other Eastern European NATO member states to “affirm the United States’ unwavering support for the security of the alliance.”

There has been speculation in recent weeks that Biden would be planning a trip to Poland, and that he could link that trip to Ukraine. However, the White House says on Friday that no other stops are planned. Several representatives of the US government, including Biden’s wife Jill, have already traveled to Ukraine in recent months. Biden himself has not yet done so – he is generally subject to much higher security requirements.
