Biden receives German Chancellor Scholz

US President Joe Biden receives German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, among other things, to discuss Russia’s “aggression” against Ukraine. It is the first physical meeting between the two leaders.

Biden has headed the US for over a year and Scholz took office last December. His predecessor Angela Merkel paid a farewell visit to Biden last year, restoring traditionally good German-American relations after the difficult years under Donald Trump.

Scholz’s visit provides an opportunity to reaffirm “deep and lasting ties” between the two countries, the White House said.
