Xi government warns of ‘unheard of impact’
Amsterdam – Nancy Pelosi, the speaker of the US House of Representatives, is likely to visit Taiwan on Tuesday, according to Taiwanese and US officials. This is despite warnings from the Chinese government that such a visit would have “unprecedented political impact” and that the Chinese armed forces “would not stand idly by” if Beijing’s “sovereignty and integrity” were threatened.
