The administration of US President Joe Biden plans to issue 11 new licenses for offshore oil drilling over the next five years. Ten of those would be provided for drilling in the Gulf of Mexico and one for drilling in Alaska. Biden promised during his campaign that he would not issue new licenses for oil and gas drilling.
