The 80-year-old Biden has often indicated that he wants to be the Democratic presidential candidate again. Tuesday’s announcement would coincide with his announcement exactly four years ago. The expectation in the United States is that Biden will not encounter serious opposition within his own party if he does indeed put himself forward as a candidate.
If re-elected, Biden would be 86 years old at the end of his second term.
