Library of Trees opens at BookCity

The initiative, created to celebrate nature in the company of great poetry, will take place in the company of the collective Poetry and the City composed of Vivian Lamarque, Vittorio Lingiardi, Nicola Gardini, Giuseppina Manin and Cristina Battocletti. And it will be animated by Ode to Trees a collection of poetic readings inspired by nature, accompanied by background music by two young violinists.

The first tree planted after the tragic storm in July

The highlight, however, will be held from 10 to 10.45am when the verses of the moving unpublished poem by the author Vivian Lamarque commissioned by BAM, will accompany the planting of the first of the 24 fallen trees in the Park during the tragic storm in July, and then moving on a creative walk in the greenery for the little ones, accompanied by the emotional reading of a text by Sara Donati.

The dream of rebirth in line with BookCity

The tree, a Liryondrum Tulipifera “Fastigiata”, is the first newcomer to the Park after the extreme climatic events of the past summer which inflicted a serious wound on Milan’s green heritage. An important gesture with which BAM offers citizens a concrete image of the hopes that can still fuel dreams of rebirth and reconstruction.

Walk among the trees for children

But it’s not over from 11am to 12.30pm, children aged 6 and over will be able to join a walk among the BAM trees led by reading the illustrated book “Amico tree” (Middle Earths). In the company of the author Sara Donati, the little ones will walk among the greenery and together they will try to get to know and get in touch with their tree friends.

The “empathy” experiment

At the end of the walk, the young participants will be the protagonists of an empathy experiment at the Volvo Studio Milano headquarters, to put what they have learned into practice. Thanks to the help of paper and imagination, the group will transform into a creative animated human forest. All the events in BAM’s cultural schedule and bookings can be found on the portal.
