Biathlon: Voigt runs on the podium at the Biathlon World Cup – Biathlon – Winter sports

Strong shooting performance and outstanding final round

Voigt started the race with the early start number twelve. In difficult wind conditions, the strong shooter, unlike many of the favorites, shot clean twice on the shooting range. As the leader in the meantime, she ran onto the last lap and initially defended her lead.

After that it was time to wait. One runner after the other bit their teeth on Voigt’s time. Only Simon was faster despite one penalty loop. Things got exciting again when Karoline Offigstadt Knotten was in the lead after the second prone stage with a lead of eleven seconds. But the Norwegian lost significantly in the last two and a half kilometers.

Voigt: I’m a bit speechless

“I’m a little speechless”said Voigt in the sports show. “It’s really crazy. To be honest, the track wasn’t that advantageous for me.” But, she added, looking back on her strong final lap: “When it comes to the sausage, I can get extra power out of it, I don’t even know where that comes from.”

Herrmann: Lost the podium on the shooting range

“Overall I am satisfied”said Herrmann, although she was only 3.3 seconds short of third place. “I lost it at the shooting range”, said the 33-year-old, although she missed only one target.

Birthday child Preuss not quite satisfied

Birthday child Franziska Preuss was the third best German twelfth. “I would have wished for a better present”, said Preuss, who turned 28 today. She left one target at each of the two shooting bouts. “Standing, the last, annoys me”She said. “It wasn’t easy lying down”.

Vanessa Hinz was 19th, Franziska Hildebrand 23rd and Janina Hettich 32nd.
