After two seasons in the world elite of biathlon, Stina Nilsson wants to shift up a gear. The Swede’s pre-season will be focused on biathlon-specific sessions.
Stina Nilsson wants to make a name for herself in biathlon. It’s been two years since the former cross-country star ventured a new start with the ski hunters.
However, she still lacks the necessary consistency, especially when shooting. Her German coach Johannes Lukas is well aware of this and thinks it is time for the 28-year-old, who has just recovered from a corona infection, to up the ante this summer.
“Now we can do much more targeted biathlon units that help even more to gain self-confidence and, above all, routine,” Lukas explained in an interview with “SVT Sport” and added: “Last year it was still complicated for her, but we have seen her learning things all the time.”
While their training has so far been geared towards shooting, Nilsson can compete with the Öberg sisters or Linn Persson in the summer season, for example.
Biathlon: Nilsson wants to get to the top
As a result of her corona disease, the ski hunter was recently unable to take part in the Swedish national team’s training camp in Greece. However, Nilsson has now recovered and is ready to start the pre-season.
For her third year as a top biathlete, the Scandinavian has only one goal: to be able to compete with the best athletes in her discipline. The changed focus in training should help Nilsson to make her dream come true.
