The City Biathlon in Wiesbaden on August 13th is increasingly becoming a meeting of legends. On Wednesday, the organizers confirmed the participation of another icon. Two former German stars have also given their commitment.
As the organizers of the City Biathlon in Wiesbaden announced on the Instagram page of the race, Tiril Eckhoff will join the extremely well-known field of participants on August 13th. The Norwegian is also at the start like her former teammate Marte Olsbu Røiseland. The record world champion had already confirmed her participation a few weeks ago.
Also there are Maren Hammerschmidt and Karolin Horchler. Among other things, they are keeping Denise Herrmann-Wick company, who will be celebrating her big farewell to the biathlon stage in Wiesbaden. Benedikt Doll and Anna Weidel are also part of the select starting field, which meanwhile doesn’t have to hide from any World Cup races.
There is also no lack of active biathlon stars from other top nations on the start list. Among others, Tarjei Bø, Hanna Öberg, Martin Ponsiluoma and Sturla Holm Laegreid are part of the party.
Also Julia Simon entered the City Biathlon
The French Julia Simon should actually run in Wiesbaden. It remains to be seen whether the French will ultimately be at the start. After the allegations of fraud against her, the 26-year-old recently withdrew from the public. She has also not taken part in the preparation of the French team.
“The City Biathlon has established itself as a highlight in our city’s calendar of events and I am delighted to be able to welcome some of the best athletes in the world here again in August,” said Gert-Uwe Mende, Mayor of the City of Wiesbaden, with a view to the spectacle .
