3. Shoot

Benedikt Doll also leaves the shooting range with two spares and ensures that Germany is now missing in third position. He is 34.4 seconds away from France. Switzerland leaves the shooting range in 13th position, Austria is in 14th place.

11:57

3. Shoot

The third shooting is coming up. Both start with a mistake and in the end both need two reloads until all the targets fall. Perrot goes back on the lap with a five second lead over Lægreid. Meanwhile, Belgium shoots itself out: Langer can’t avoid the penalty!

11:54

Doll doesn’t come any closer

Things still don’t add up for the German team and Benedikt Doll still can’t catch up on seconds. Shortly before the next shooting there are 46 seconds between Norway and Germany.

11:53

Lægreid ran up

Sturla Holm Lægreid has closed the gap towards the Frenchman and is now in front of Perrot. The distance to Belgium remains stable and Benedikt Doll has not come any closer either.

11:51

Germany on the four

The German relay is in fourth position and has 43 seconds to catch up to the top. Benedikt Doll is now on the 7.5 kilometers. Austria and Switzerland are already significantly behind. They reach the transition zone 1:33 or 1:34 minutes apart. Here Eder and Burkhalter run the second part.

11:50

1. Change

Fabien Claude returns to the station in first position for France, but the gap towards Norway has recently shrunk significantly. Eric Perrot, the second French starter, took 4.7 seconds on the first lap. Sturla Holm Lægreid is traveling for Norway. Belgium changes in third position, 22 seconds behind.

11:49

Strømsheim is picking up the pace

Endre Strømsheim is moving now! He passes Florent Claude, breaks away and now takes longer steps to shorten the gap to the front. France is still ahead by 13 seconds.

11:47

Fabien Claude puts pressure on

Fabien Claude really picks up the pace at the front on the last lap and even manages to increase towards Norway and Belgium. Roman Rees was able to reduce the gap by a few seconds.

11:45

2. Shooting

Meanwhile, dramas are unfolding among other starters! Roman Rees has a lot to do to avoid a penalty and after three spares he goes back on the track in sixth place, 44.7 seconds behind. With Komatz, two reloaders are needed and the minute is there. Switzerland is also struggling: Stalder cannot avoid the penalty loop for his relay and falls to 16th place. Other nations cannot now avoid the penalty loop either.

11:44

2. Shooting

It’s back to the shooting range and this time the athletes have to prove themselves in the standing position in difficult conditions. Fabien Claude keeps France in the lead and with a spare he is 10.9 seconds ahead of his brother, who is the starting runner for the Belgians. Endre Strømsheim goes back on track with a spare for Norway on the three.

11:43

Who can follow Norway?

Endre Strømsheim moved to the front of the chasing group and picked up the pace again before the second shooting. Can Roman Rees go for Germany? At the moment it looks like it is. Belgium and Sweden are also staying tuned.

11:39

Strømsheim at it again

Fabien Claude has opened up a small gap at the front, while behind him Strømsheim has already closed in on the group around the German starting runner Rees. They are almost 14 seconds away from France.

11:37

1. Shooting

Things didn’t go according to plan for the Austrians either. David Komatz immediately has difficulties and has to avoid the penalty loop. With three spares, however, we are already 44.5 seconds away from the leading group.

11:37

1. Shooting

The first shooting begins and the athletes get ready on the mats. Who can get through the fastest? It’s Fabien Claude for the French. Ranta for Finland and Roman Rees also got through without a spare and stayed in the top group. Endre Strømsheim needed two spares for the Norwegians and fell 18 seconds behind. Stalder also had to reload twice for Switzerland.

11:33

field together

As usual in the relay, not much happens in the first few kilometers. The field stayed together and Strømsheim only picked up briefly on the climb. Only the first shooting will create any gaps.

11:30

Let’s go!

The starting signal has been fired and the starting runners of the 21 relay teams set off for the first 7.5 kilometers. Strømsheim is on the road for Norway. France relies on Fabien Claude. Roman Rees starts for Germany. Austria has David Komatz in action and Switzerland starts with Sebastian Stalder.

11:27

The conditions

The temperatures in Oberhof have risen over the last few days and on the final day the athletes will be greeted with light snowfall and sub-zero temperatures. There is also fog and wind speeds of around 8 km/h.

11:25

Who else should you pay attention to?

In addition to Norway and Germany, the team from France is of course another hot candidate for the podium. After two sixth places, the Swedes would like to finally finish further up the field again and the Italians shouldn’t be ignored after fifth and fourth positions this season.

11:18

Switzerland is looking for improvement

The men from Switzerland are looking for an improvement. So far, seventh place was the best result in a relay. Sebastian Stalder will start the race, followed by Joscha Burkhalter, Niklas Hartweg and Jermey Finello.

11:13

What’s going on for the ÖSV relay team?

The Austrian relay team achieved a strong fourth place at the start of the season in Östersund. With good shooting results, this is a result that could certainly be possible again in Oberhof. The order of the trainers is the same as in the best race of the season with David Komatz, Simon Eder and Felix Leitner. Only the fourth position undergoes a change. Here Dominic Unterweger was nominated instead of Jakob, who is not starting in Oberhof.

11:07

Will there be a German podium again?

The German team had made it to the podium in each of the previous winter seasons, so the goal for the home World Cup should be clear. Norway will be hard to beat, but France is definitely up for grabs. Roman Rees will play the first part. He is followed by Benedikt Doll, Philipp Nawrath and Philipp Horn.

11:02

A clear favorite

There have already been two relay races in the 2023/24 Biathlon World Cup, with the Norwegian team at the top in each case with different line-ups. The team’s line-up also changes again in Oberhof, but the Norwegians are still the top favorites. The relay will be started by Endre Strømsheim, who celebrated his first World Cup victory yesterday. He is then followed by the veterans Sturla Holm Lægreid, Tarjei Bø and Johannes Thingnes Bø.
