1:06 p.m
Prussia fights
For her part, Franziska Preuß is fighting for every position, but after the strenuous weekend following her illness, much just doesn’t seem to be possible anymore. She should probably take eighth place.
1:05 p.m
Elvira Öberg runs away
Elvira Öberg runs away from her sister on the climb and now consolidates her second place. Braisaz-Bouchet takes 8.3 seconds into the final kilometer.
1:03 p.m
Öberg sisters fight for second place
Elvira Öberg has overtaken Lisa Vittozzi and put a gap between herself and the Italian. She is now fighting against her sister for second place. Braisaz-Bouchet is ahead.
13:02
Another penalty for Häcki-Groß
Lena Häcki-Groß also went into the penalty loop in the last shooting. Vanessa Voigt is doing better, but in 21st place she certainly won’t be uprooting any trees. Hettich-Walz, for her part, has to spin again.
1:01 p.m
Last shooting
Behind her, Hanna Öberg gets back into the game after some strong shooting! The Swede came to the shooting in sixth place and, after shooting cleanly, is now second ahead of Lisa Vittozzi and her sister Elvira. Franziska Preuß, for her part, remains clear for the fourth time, but as she is currently sixth, she will no longer be able to fight for the podium.
1:00 p.m
Last shooting
Justine Braisaz-Bouchet has arrived at her last shooting. Will she keep her clean slate? The first shots are quick and clean and she also knocks down the last three targets. Braisaz-Bouchet is the first to get back on track!
12:59
Preuss in eighth place
Franziska Preuß is doing really well at the shooting range, but after her corona illness she can’t quite keep up on the track and has to let competitor after competitor go before the final shooting.
12:58
Is there win number three?
Braisaz-Bouchet was able to further increase her gap towards Vitozzi and will come to the final shooting with a good lead. After the sprint success and the victory in the pursuit, can you win again today?
12:56
Braisaz-Bouchet increases the distance
At the front, Braisaz-Bouchet increased her distance again after shooting. She separated herself from Vittozzi by 13 seconds and Simon couldn’t get any closer to her either. Preuss, for her part, loses again and is in danger of being swallowed up by a group of Swedish and Norwegian athletes.
12:54
3. Shoot
For the other two Germans it’s time to turn into the penalty loop. Janina Hettich-Walz has to complete one round, while Vanessa Voigt has to complete two rounds. As a result, they fall back to places 21 and 23. Häcki-Groß cannot convince in front of her home crowd today and after two more mistakes she falls further behind.
12:53
3. Shoot
The first athletes come back to the shooting range. Now it’s time to hit the targets while standing. Simon starts quickly, but the first disc stops straight away. This allows Justine Braisaz-Bouchet to overtake and now takes the lead ahead of Lisa Vittozzi, who is 9.3 seconds behind after a faultless series. Franziska Preuß can also shine again, as she also remains error-free. She goes back on the lap in third place, just ahead of Simon.
12:49
France three times
At the front there are three French women: Simon, Chauveau and Braisaz-Bouchet. They are joined by Arnekleiv and Tomingas from Estonia. Vittozzi isn’t far away either.
12:48
Five athletes in front
There are now five athletes in the top group again. Franziska Preuß is in eighth position and is trying to stay close to Tandrevold, who has just passed her. Voigt finds himself in twelfth place. She’s a good half a minute away from the front.
12:47
2. Shooting
It’s time for the second shooting. In the prone position, the athletes don’t give up and the cartridges are quickly thrown out! Julia Simon is the first to get back on the track. Arnekleiv follows at number two. Preuss and Voigt are also still there and get through without any mistakes. At Häcki-Groß and Hettich-Walz all five discs fall this time. ÖSV starter Steiner has to go back into the penalty loop.
12:45
Brorsson throws it out
Mona Brorsson did really well, but is now the first starter to have a lot of problems on the narrow descent. She loses her balance, slips and ends up in the gang. This takes concentration and strength for the Swede, who fortunately remains uninjured.
12:43
Öberg is making up places
Elvira Öberg was one of those who made a mistake in the first shooting and now has to make up ground on the cross-country ski trail. From 19th place she has already worked her way up to Preuß and is now ninth.
12:41
Preuss leaves it lying there
Franziska Preuß is currently going backwards on the track. Since the shooting, she has lost almost four seconds to Braisaz-Bouchet, who leads a small leading group of five athletes.
12:40
Skogan fell off
Marit Ishol Skogan was able to impress with third place yesterday, but today the Norwegians started with three mistakes and are currently lagging behind the field.
12:39
1. Shooting
Lena Häcki-Groß will be annoyed. In the home race they go twice. Tamara Steiner from Austria has a disc that stops and Hettich-Walz also has to spin.
12:38
1. Shooting
At least at the front everyone gets through the narrow descent safely and now we all head towards the shooting range. Simon starts quickly, but also leaves a slice alone. Even with the competition, things aren’t going smoothly everywhere. For her part, Justine Braisaz-Bouchet scores everything and is the first to get back on the track. Franziska Preuß and Vanessa Voigt are also among those who get through without making any mistakes.
12:34
Field closed
The field is close together after the first few kilometers and is now led by Simon. Öberg and Tandrevold are also at the front. The first bottleneck awaits you with the narrow descent.
12:31
Elvira Öberg goes first
Elvira Öberg goes straight to the front and wants to dictate the pace from the front. Häcki-Groß’s stick broke straight away, but since she quickly receives new material, that’s not a tragedy.
12:30
The race is on!
The starting signal has been fired and the 30 biathletes set off on the 12.5 kilometers. In the first few meters the most important thing is to concentrate and not risk breaking the stick or falling in the crowd.
12:25
Steiner for Austria
The team from Austria also only had one athlete at the first mass start. Only Tamara Steiner met the requirements for taking part in today’s race. Steiner qualified based on her results this weekend.
12:19
Häcki-Groß represents Switzerland
Only one athlete from the host nation, Lena Häcki-Groß, is eligible to take part in the mass start. With places 19 and 11, she hasn’t yet delivered what she is actually capable of in front of her home crowd and so she will certainly do everything she can again today so that she can achieve a top result in the home World Cup.
12:15
Three DSV starters
Three athletes from the German team meet the requirements for taking part in today’s mass start. From their ranks, Vanessa Voigt and Franziska Preuß in particular can certainly be expected to achieve good results. But Janina Hettich-Walz can also go a long way in the mass start.
12:09
Who will win?
The winter so far has been characterized by a lot of variety for the women and there were many different names on the podium. In Lenzerheide, Justine Braisaz-Bouchet came out on top in the sprint and pursuit, and she will be eager to be at the top of the podium again today. In addition to her, the Norwegian athletes around Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold, as well as the Öberg sisters and Lisa Vittozzi from Italy, are certainly worth paying attention to.
12:03
The process
In the mass start the field is usually smaller than in the other formats. A total of 30 athletes will take part in the run-up and take to the track at the same time. The field is made up of the top 25 overall in the World Cup as well as the five best participants in the weekend’s competitions who are not placed among the top 25 in the World Cup. As with the pursuit, the mass start also includes two prone and then two standing stages.
11:56
Welcome!
Hello and welcome to the last women’s biathlon competition before the Christmas break. The weekend in Lenzerheide ends with the 12.5 kilometer mass start. It starts at 12:30 p.m.!
