Biathlete Franziska Preuß clearly missed the podium at the home World Cup in Ruhpolding. In the 7.5 kilometer sprint, the 29-year-old took eighth place after two shooting errors. In the end, she was 51.9 seconds behind the dominant winner Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold from Norway.
The best German in the Chiemgau Arena was Janina Hettich-Walz, who finished sixth without making any mistakes (+35.0 seconds).
In addition, the 18-year-old debutante Julia Tannheimer surprised in 15th place (0/+58.6). The podium in Bavaria was completed by Swede Mona Brorsson (0/+18.2) in second place and Lisa Vittozzi from Italy (0/+19.0) in third place.
This means that the team from the German Ski Association (DSV) has to continue to wait for the longed-for home win in Ruhpolding. Most recently, Preuß ensured German success in the mass start in Bavaria in January 2019.
For the women, the pursuit over the ten kilometers in Ruhpolding is still on the program on Sunday (2.30 p.m.). The day before, the men’s sprint (2.30 p.m.) awaits them before they finish the World Cup in the Chiemgau Arena the following day with their hunting race (2.45 p.m./all ZDF and Eurosport).
