A podium comeback for Dorothea Wierer in the pursuit. Two years after gold at the World Championships in Anterselva, the blue returns to the top, she is second in the race chasing Kontiolahti. In front of the blue there is only Tiril Eckhoff, but the gap is minimal: 15 “9 seconds.
The race
–
Relentless shooting (zero errors), fast on skis (she left Herrmann behind) Wierer started for seventeenth with almost a minute from Eckhoff. But already after the first clear polygon she climbed back to eleventh position 54 seconds from the top. The second pitch, on the ground, was also fully positive for the champion from Anterselva who climbed to seventh position 52 seconds behind Eckhoff. Another zero in the first standing shot and Dorothea is fourth and aims at the podium. On the fourth pitch all the best players miss, but not Wierer, who thanks to 20 out of 20 comes out with second place just 14 seconds behind the Norwegian. The ending is heart-pounding and Dorothea keeps Hermann behind. It is the third podium of the season in the Cup and the 44th in career for Wierer.
