Biathlon | DSV star gets support

DSV biathlete Johannes Kühn has been a member of the athlete committee of the IBU World Federation since 2022. However, two places are vacant on the committee, which is why the ski hunters will soon be asked to vote. Now the five candidates have been announced.

Kelsey Dickinson (USA), Simon Eder (Austria), Lena Häcki-Groß (Switzerland), Jessica Jislova (Czech Republic) and Anna Maka (Poland) are up for election for one of the two places in the international biathletes’ committee. This was announced by the International Biathlon Union.

The election will be held as part of the World Cup in Oslo (February 27th to March 3rd). Voting will take place via an online portal.

All biathletes who can demonstrate at least one World Cup start in the first two trimesters or participation in the World Championships in Nove Mesto are eligible to vote.

Kühn, Samuelsson and Tandrevold are growing

Currently represented in the athletes’ committee are DSV biathlete Johannes Kühn, the Swede Sebastian Samuelsson and the Norwegian Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold. Now the number of participants has been increased to five after the committee was expanded by one place and at the same time the previous chairwoman Clare Egan from the USA withdrew from active sport.

One woman and one man each will join the committee as a result of the new election in Oslo. The biathletes now up for election had until the end of January to submit their candidacies.

The committee represents the interests of the biathletes who compete in the World Cup. The tasks include advising the Executive Council and the Technical Committee of the world association so that the perspectives of the athletes are taken into account when making groundbreaking decisions. Membership on the Athletes Committee lasts four years.
