Biathlon couple celebrates romantic dream wedding

The Austrian biathlon stars Katharina Innerhofer and David Komatz used the summer break in the best possible way and said yes after a long-term relationship.

Skis and rifles are out of service, instead they are getting married: the dream wedding of 31-year-old Innerhofer and her partner, who is one year younger, took place in the Salzkammergut – despite the date in April, in front of a wonderful snowy backdrop, as befits a real biathlon couple . The celebration that followed took place in the Kohlröserlhütte on the Ödensee in Styria.

Innerhofer shared great snapshots of the big day on Instagram. “Mr. & Mrs.”, the successful ski hunter wrote underneath.

Numerous stars of the biathlon scene, including DSV ace Franziska Preuß or the Norwegian top athlete Johannes Thingnes Bö, fans and the world association IBU congratulated the happy couple.

Katharina Innerhofer’s historic biathlon triumph

Innerhofer wrote biathlon history in March 2014 when she was the first Austrian to ever win a World Cup race.

At that time she triumphed in the sprint in Pokljuka, and the Austrian media then wrote about the “race of her life”.

In 2015/2016, a previously unrecognized infection with glandular fever put her out of action for a long time. Later she drove in several top 10 placements.

David Komatz did not start his career in biathlon

Innerhofer also took part in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, 2018 in Pyeongchang and 2022 in Beijing. However, she was not granted a medal.

After all, Komatz can boast a World Cup medal. In 2021, together with Lisa Hauser, Dunja Zdouc and Simon Eder, he won silver for Austria in the mixed relay, also in Pokljuka.

Like many biathletes, he started his career as a cross-country skier.
