Beyond Retro expands to Finland – a store opens in Helsinki in October

The Swedish chain Beyond Retro, which sells curated vintage clothes, is expanding to Finland.

Beyond retro, a vintage and second-hand clothing chain operating in the Swedish and Great Britain markets, will open a store in Helsinki’s central shopping center Forum at the end of October. The store is of considerable size: it is calculated that there is space for more than 7,000 pieces of vintage clothing in the almost 300 square meters of the store.

Kate PetersBeyond Retro’s director of retail sales commented that Finland has been part of the chain’s expansion plans for a long time.

– We have been impressed by Finland’s progress in the field of sustainable development. We hope to be a good addition to the already existing second-hand and vintage field and we look forward to expanding to Helsinki and being inspired by a new audience, describes Peters in the press release.

At the beginning of the 2000s, many Finns went on Swedish day cruises to Beyond Retro, the number one ski resort in the center of Stockholm. In addition to the carefully curated, up-to-date vintage clothes, a fabric bag with the chain’s anchor logo was purchased for the occasion, which was the trendiest summer bag before Marimekko’s logo bags made it so.

This year the chain turns twenty years old. The first store was opened in London in 2002. Behind the Beyond Retro selection is a team of vintage enthusiasts whose job it is to map trends and select the most up-to-date clothing items for the stores based on them.
