Beyond Paradisethe plot of the second episode
In the third episode, Inspector Humphrey Goodman (Kris Marshall) is grappling with a new case to solve. This time the scene shifts to Shipton Abbott Castle, where everything is ready for the unveiling of a picture of inestimable value, entitled Sea only. The night before the deal between Terence Witham and Louise Fitzallan is completed, Goodman asks agent Kelby Hartford (Dylan Llewellyn) to guard the painting.
The next morning, to the surprise of everyone present, it turns out that the frame is empty and there is no trace of the painting. Asked by the inspector, Kelby explains that there was a brief blackout and that he saw a man in an orange hat running away. Furthermore, he admits that he left the room, but only for a handful of minutes. Perhaps the theft was committed at that juncture.
Humphrey and Esther Williams (Zahra Ahmadi) launch the investigation. They focus on the provenance of the painting, because it could be related to the motive. In fact, whoever stole it could have something to do with the value of the painting or with its history. For Goodman, the professional front intersects with the personal one. He has to go to the police station to meet the chief commissioner and the opportunity is tempting to meet Archie Hughes (Jamie Bamber), the ex-boyfriend of Martha Lloyd (Sally Bretton), with whom he goes for a beer.
Humphrey Goodman grappling with a new mystery
The inspector’s adventures continue with a real thriller. The plot of the fourth episode revolves around a new crime. A man is found dead in a cornfield near the North farm. Initially, the cause of death is a heart attack. To entangle the skein, the absence of documents to proceed with the recognition and a page of the novel Big hopesby Charles Dickens, hidden in a sock.
Goodman and his team investigate and find the victim’s car about ten miles from the place of death. The car is located in the area of an illegal rave and the map of the North farm is found inside it. This is at the center of copious sightings of alien spacecraftAnd. A real business for owners Andrew and Cassie Parkerso that they can increase their income.
The inspector wants to get to the bottom of it. He finds out that the father – with whom the Parkers no longer have relations – died recently in prison. He had been convicted of stealing gold bars that were never found. Does the story have to do with the man’s body found in the cornfield? And most importantly, what does it have to do with it Big hopes?
Beyond ParadiseArchie kisses Martha
Meanwhile Martha is anxious because she is about to meet a food critic, ready to review the restaurant. Stress mounts as, after losing the baby, she hopes Humphrey won’t make another attempt. In the end, Archie rekindles their former passion with a kiss. What are the repercussions? Will something change in the relationship between her and her boyfriend?
Certainly, Archie’s return heralds tensions and uncertainties at a time when the relationship between Goodman and Lloyd isn’t particularly booming. In the promoMartha says, “He’s the best man I’ve ever met in my life and he deserves to be happy, I just don’t know if he’s going to be happy with me.”
It would seem a clear reference to Humphrey. Perhaps the move from the Caribbean to England was a particularly rash decision, which now risks having repercussions for both.
