Beyoncé releases her first TikTok video with Cardi B for “BREAK MY SOUL”

Beyoncé has now ended up on the trend platform TikTok. The singer posted her first TikTok video for her song “BREAK MY SOUL” on July 14, featuring rap Barbie Cardi B.

First TikTok already has over 4 million clicks

Beyoncé has been a member of TikTok since last year, but until now the singer hadn’t posted anything on the video-sharing platform. Her first video is a compilation of clips from other TikTok users dancing and reacting to Béyonce’s new single “BREAK MY SOUL”. The clip includes a video of Cardi B yelling along the line “In case you forgot how we act outside.” The video has already been viewed more than four million times. She captioned the post, “Seeing you all go wild made me so happy! Thank you so much for all the love for BREAK MY SOUL!”.

“Break My Soul” – a “Motivational Track”

“BREAK MY SOUL” is a single taken from Beyoncé’s forthcoming seventh studio album RENAISSANCE, which is due out July 29. The song contains samples from Robin S and Big Freedia. Kyann-Sian Williams of NME wrote in a review of the track: “Since Beyoncé uses the genre to tell those who are ‘looking for something that lives inside them’ to motivate themselves, find their own foundation build up, this is a motivational track. And when you don’t need motivation, you can just enjoy this track that turns any sidewalk into a catwalk.”

New album is a “place to dream and escape”

RENAISSANCE is their first album in six years. Most recently, she released LEMONADE, which featured guest appearances from The Weeknd, Kendrick Lamar, Jack White, James Blake and the Dixie Chicks. Beyoncé wants to convey a feeling of freedom and security with her new album. She explains: “Making this album has given me a place to dream and escape at a scary time for the world. It allowed me to feel free and adventurous at a time when little else was moving. My intention was to create a safe place, a place without judgment. A place where you are free from perfectionism and reflection”.
