celebritiesDuring the Oscars ceremony on Sunday, Beyoncé (40) will indeed perform with her nominated song ‘Be alive’. That confirmed organizer the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Tuesday.
Beyoncé wrote and sang ‘Be alive’ for the movie ‘King Richard’, about the father of tennis stars Venus and Serena Williams. Earlier in the week there were rumors that the singer could be seen via satellite during the Oscar ceremony, because she would give her performance from the tennis court where the Williams sisters trained endlessly as children. The Academy did not specify the location of Beyoncé’s performance in the press release.
It was previously announced that Billie Eilish will perform the song ‘No time to die’, which she wrote for the ‘Bond’ film of that title. Also the artists behind nominated songs ‘Dos oruguitas’ and ‘Somehow you do’, Sebastián Yatra and Reba McEntire, will perform during the ceremony.
Youngest winner
The fifth nominated song is ‘Down to Joy’, written and performed by Van Morrison, who is unable to come to Los Angeles due to his busy touring schedule. The Academy says that the song can therefore not be heard during the broadcast.
The other nominated songs come from the films ‘Encanto’ (‘Dos oruguitas’), ‘Belfast’ (‘Down to Joy’) and ‘Four good days’ (‘Somehow you do’). At previous major awards ceremonies this award season, Billie Eilish has emerged as the winner to date. The 20-year-old is the youngest winner in this category of the Oscars ever with a victory on Sunday.
