85-year-old Beverwijker Hans Wold has made it his life’s mission to collect all the books by the popular writer Appie Baantjer. Especially for this purpose, he turned to Rachel Morssink’s radio program NH Helpt and thanks to that help, his dream is now getting closer.
It is not without reason that Hans Wold is such a fan of the extremely popular detective books with detective De Cock – with cee-o-cee-k – in the leading role. His brother was a police officer on Amsterdam’s Warmoesstraat and half a century ago not only a direct colleague of Appie Baantjer, but also his neighbor in Purmerend.
Hans would like nothing more than to have his collection complete and approached the popular radio program NH Helpt.
Last week the telephone in the editorial office was just ringing off the hook, so many people offered to help Hans. He says: “I was allowed to travel to Blokker this week. A very sweet couple had a large bag ready for me with forty-five books in it.”
During the show itself, Hans came into contact with Aaldert and Willo, who wanted to give part of their duplicate collection to the Beverwijker as a gift. An overjoyed Hans promised to send Rachel a photo as soon as he completes his Baantjer collection.
Perhaps you have a book at home that Hans does not yet own. Then take a look at the NH Helpt website. The program can be listened to every Saturday afternoon between 12:00 and 14:00.
