HIFK’s difficult season continued when Ilves claimed full points with a 0–1 win on Monday against Helsinki.

The most telling situation of the match was seen at the very end, when HIFK’s 40-year-old goalkeeper Beto received a straight red card.

Kalle Katz of Ilves, who was replaced from the field, caught the ball that went out from the sideline and rushed to it Sergei Eremenko and Beto. Eremenko forcefully pushed Katz to the ground, while Beto lunged at Katz head first.

Beto was shown a red card, after which he took off his shirt and went to the players’ tunnel. However, Beto returned to the side of the field to shout and scream at the referee. Katz received a yellow card for the situation.

HIFK’s goalkeeper coach For Roberto Rivelino a red card was also shown.

– A fully justified red card for Beto. It showed HIFK’s frustration with this game, but probably also with the whole season and the club’s situation. Sometimes it just flares up, Ilves head coach Toni Kallio pondered his company in the match report.

The only hit of the match was completed by Tuco. The goal came in the first minute of the match, when Aapo Mäenpää crossed from the right wing and Tuco put the ball into the net between two HIFK defenders. The hit was Tuco’s first this season.

HIFK is a jumbo in the Veikkausliiga, the team has only six points. With its victory, Ilves rose to fifth place.
