“Everyone always says: ‘that you can be friends, you are so different’,” says Henriette in her apartment on the 9th floor in Zandvoort with a beautiful view of the sea. “It’s actually fun, because you learn from each other. Then you think oh yes, it can be done that way.” Henriette is a sun worshiper, sings in a choir and loves to party, while Ine is allergic to the sun, is musical and more of a nature person.
The women met each other at a retail chain where they worked. “From day 1 it was laughing, screaming, roaring,” says Ine. “I found her interesting,” Henriette adds, “because we were so different. We have been through a lot now and that creates a bond. When I met my husband, Ine had to check whether it was the right one and we also went go on winter sports together every year.”
Henriette would learn how to put snow chains on a car tire, because the friends went to Austria with her Fiat Panda. Ine starts laughing again: “Jet had practiced on a loose spare tire that was against the garage wall, so when we ended up in the thick snow, Jet said: these tires are stuck, I can’t do it like that.”
The friends stay together once a month. Then there is not only a lot of laughter, but also serious things being discussed. Henriette: “We also say everything. People often don’t dare to be honest, but especially in a real friendship you have to dare to say everything.”
