The first place in the list of the best-selling automatic cars in Russia was taken by Kia Rio in 2021 – 75,448 cars (91% of all Kia cars sold, + 10% by 2020).
Hyundai Creta is in second place (56.1 thousand cars with automatic transmission, 82% of all Hyundai cars sold, + 6% by 2020).
The third place was taken by Hyundai Solaris (48.6 thousand cars, 80%, +15%, Bankavto notes).
Russian sales of Toyota RAV-4 with automatic transmission increased in 2021 to 36.6 thousand cars (+ 7.6%), Volkswagen Polo with automatic transmission – up to 34.5 thousand cars (+ 5%).
Lada Vesta and Granta with automatic transmission were not included in the list, since Lada is sold mainly on mechanics, CVT or robot.
So, in 2021, 7.4 thousand Lada Granta cars with automatic transmission and almost 4 thousand Lada X Ray cars with automatic transmission were sold in Russia.
In general, in 2021, 990.3 thousand new cars and light trucks with various types of automatic transmissions were sold in Russia, which is 61 thousand cars more than in 2020. The share of cars with automatic transmission increased from 58% to 59 ,4%.
Russia is gradually becoming a country of cars with automatic transmissions and is not following the European, but the American path, where cars with “mechanics” are rare.
