Besiktas presents Weghorst – No loan fee due to Burnley FC

After relegation from Premier League

Wout Weghorst’s transfer to Besiktas Istanbul is dry. The 29-year-old Turkey’s dream striker is leaving Burnley FC, which have been relegated to the Premier League, on a one-season loan. “Our top priority in the striker position is Wout Weghorst,” President Ahmet Nur Cebi told “Sporx” in mid-June.

A loan fee to Burnley is not due, but the net salary of the veteran of 2.8 million euros will be paid by Besiktas – a bonus of 200,000 euros could be added. There was no talk of a purchase option for either of the clubs involved, but this could also be part of the deal.

Right-footed Weghorst left VfL Wolfsburg in January to fulfill his dream of moving to England. He scored two goals in 20 Premier League games. The €14m fee is listed as the seventh-highest VfL Wolfsburg earnings from a single player sale. Weghorst scored 70 goals during his time in Lower Saxony.
