DFB President Bernd Neuendorf is hoping for a record attendance in the women’s cup final on May 18 in Cologne.
“We definitely want to reach 30,000 plus x viewers. That’s what we’re aiming for. I think the chances are not bad,” said Neuendorf on the sidelines of the semi-final draw.
The previous record for the final in Cologne’s Rhein-Energie Stadium is 26,282 spectators from 2010. When the final was held in the cathedral city for the first time 13 years ago, FCR 2001 Duisburg beat FF USV 1-0 Jena enforced.
In this year’s semi-finals, there will be another summit meeting between Bayern Munich and double winners VfL Wolfsburg. Second division leaders RB Leipzig will also welcome Bundesliga side SC Freiburg. The semi-finals will be played from April 15th to 17th.
