The Berlin Senate wants to expand the capacities for unaccompanied minor refugees. This was announced by a spokesman for the Senate Department for Education, Youth and Family on Saturday.
At the same time, preparations are being made to make offers for Ukrainian orphans for a longer period of time.
There are currently around 100 places in Berlin where unaccompanied minors arrive and are “closely looked after socially and pedagogically”, it said. There would also be two clearing facilities with 40 places. Secretary of State Aziz Bozkurt (SPD) is currently exchanging information on how capacities can be increased in the short term.
