Agenda item 5 was canceled at short notice – at an extraordinary party conference on Friday evening, the Left Party actually wanted to vote on their “yes” to coalition negotiations with the SPD and the Greens.

After the socialists switched to black and red, there was a lot of anger in a hall on Franz Mehring Platz. Left country chief Katina Schubert (61) railed that CDU election winner Kai Wegner (50) was a “steam talker” who split and excluded.

The claims of the SPD on the soundings were “stunken and lied”. Future negotiations with SPD state chief Franziska Giffey are ruled out.

Top candidate Klaus Lederer (48): “After the election night it was clear – there is a clear parliamentary center-left majority, absolutely no need to let the backward-looking CDU govern our city. It was very clear: where there is a will, there is no Wegner!”

MP Elif Eralp (42) very upset: “Our diverse Berlin does not deserve a racist and neoliberal CDU in the Red City Hall. It’s a shame that Giffey & Co. are making themselves stirrup holders.”
