Berlin voted again. A comment from BZ editor-in-chief Jan Schilde.
One thing is certain: the repeat election has a clear winner. His name is Kai Wegner.
On the other hand, it is anything but certain that the CDU and its top candidate will be in power despite the large lead over the other parties (almost 10 percent).
Because the three coalition parties, which were clearly punished for their Senate policies, want to hold on to the continuation of their alliance. That’s democracy, they say.
Maybe, and you can do it that way. But only if you want to give up all credibility, if you don’t care about the will of the voters at all.
With this clear result, the future ruler can only be Kai Wegner.
