Father joy with Maximilian Schachmann (28)! The Berliner’s Peruvian girlfriend gives birth to their daughter at the end of the year. Schachmann: “We are very happy.”
The family will live on the west side of Lake Garda, where professional cyclist Maximilian Schachmann from the German team Bora-hansgrohe has already moved.
“Switzerland, where I lived before, was beautiful, but it was too cold for me in winter. In Italy I can ride there at ten degrees more and in the sun. Plus the food, the way of life, the architecture. Just beautiful.”
Simon Geschke (36) defended the mountain jersey on the 16th stage of the Tour de France from Carcassonne to Foix by riding in a breakaway group for a long time and securing further points.
Winner: Canadian Hugo Houle (31). Jonas Vingegaard (25/Denmark) stays yellow.
Schachmann’s teammate Lennard Kämna (25 / cold) and Geschke’s room colleague Max had to give up Walscheid (29), who tested positive for Corona. Geschke remained negative.
