Travel cheaper by public transport throughout Germany. The 49-euro ticket should only be the beginning for Berliners.
“I would like us to be able to discount the nationwide 49-euro ticket for various groups,” announced Transport Senator Bettina Jarasch (53, Greens) on Monday in the BZ interview.
examples? “With a company ticket for normal working people, you could perhaps travel nationwide for 29 euros,” says Jarasch. Or: “Even with the Berlin S-Ticket, which is now being subsidized from 63 to 27.50 euros, we want to end up with little money for a nationwide ticket.”
There was already talk of 19 or 9 euros. Jarasch continues: “I’m putting together this package right now.”
Of course, the resulting drop in income would have to be compensated for by the transport companies from the Berlin budget … And: Berlin will not go it alone, but an agreement with the Berlin-Brandenburg Transport Association (VBB).
When it comes to public transport, there is even more movement in the capital!
► News about shuttle traffic on the U 2 after subsidence damage to the subway tunnel under Alexanderplatz: Mittes Baustadtrat Ephraim Gothe (SPD) will not impose a construction freeze on the Covivio skyscraper project.
“I’m mostly reassured. The agreements between the experts are at the highest level,” he said to the BZ. The tunnel foundation is to be stabilized from below with concrete injections. The cracks are currently 3.1 to 3.5 centimeters wide. There is currently no further construction anyway.
► Three air-conditioning trams are now rolling through Berlin: Trams with blue and red stickers are on the move in the city. The colors symbolize a timeline showing that the average temperature has risen by four degrees since 1850. There are posters and brochures from various initiatives in the vehicles.
Co-initiator Eckart von Hirschhausen (55): “Every clinical thermometer ends at 42 degrees, because then the proteins in the body change. Many people have not yet understood the threat.”
