BZ met the boy (8) with the most unusual name in the capital. He loves nature, settles disputes and already speaks three languages.
Doing good for nature often starts with the little things. For example, admonishing the buddies not to simply throw the empty Capri sun into the bushes…
BZ now met Berlin’s youngest ambassador for the environment. The eight-year-old from Reinickendorf probably has the most unusual first name in the capital and already lives up to it.
Its name: ozone. He was born in the Charité on July 5, 2013 – BZ reported at the time.
“We have been committed to environmental protection for years and want ozone to follow in our footsteps,” says father Xhafer Metaj (59). “Therefore we chose this unusual but extremely concise name.”
Ozone is now in the third grade and is actually interested in our nature and how it can be better protected.
“I have many picture books about the earth and animals,” he says. “In addition, I often watch documentaries about our planet with my parents.” He also repeatedly brings up the subject of waste disposal and separation with his schoolmates.
As a small environmental protection ambassador, Ozon also has a great sense of justice. “The teachers always tell how he tries to settle disputes in the schoolyard,” says the dad. “And if someone insults him, he just takes it with humor.”
His favorite subject at school is English. Ozon already speaks it properly, as well as German and Albanian – his parents’ mother tongue.
“Other than that, I like football and train twice a week at the MSV Normannia 08 club,” he says. “I am a striker and I would like to play professionally for Real Madrid later on.”
If that doesn’t work, Ozon can also imagine becoming an astronaut as an adult. “When I grow up, I definitely want to explore and protect the world,” he says.
And where better to spread the message about protecting the environment than high up in the stars…
