Berliner Grüne expresses confused theses about the lion search

By Stephen Peter

Have you roared well or just licked and croaked? The Berlin Green politician June Tomiak (26) publicly speculated that the lioness could have broken out at “Reichen” in Kleinmachnow.

Tomiak has been a member of the Berlin House of Representatives for the Greens since March and has hardly made an appearance so far. She is her faction’s spokesperson for wildlife conservation. She fervently announced on Twitter: “I cannot remain silent about current events”.

Your post is a confused mix of speculation, crude jokes and supposed analysis: “Every summer has its hole and this is a pit with which we try to catch a lioness,” Tomiak tries his hand at poetry. “Or another big cat, a potentially dangerous creature anyway.”

Kleinmachnow ruled out “using the lion resource for the wild boar problem (that would finally be an innovative idea!)”. Then the Green politician warns: “A removal (killing) would be a sign of poverty for this city.” And: “Would black and red kill cats? Allegedly. Instead, I demand safety for 2- and 4-legged friends!”

Then Tomiak gets political, but obviously makes a typo: “Keeping big cats is not a caviar offence.” What is probably meant is a trivial offense. This is followed by the confused speculation about the origin of the (presumed) lioness: “Is it a coincidence that Kleinmachnow is the crime scene as a hotspot for the rich?”

What she means by that: Kleinmachnow is one of the most expensive places in Brandenburg, the square meter of land sometimes costs more than in Potsdam or in Zehlendorf. According to statistics, the average monthly income in the rich community is almost 60,000 euros per year. However, the figures do not offer a connection between earnings and private carnivore keeping.
