With 6000 days of shooting, a new record was set in Berlin in 2021.

But Berlin wants to improve the general conditions for film and series productions in the city. Governing Mayor Franziska Giffey (SPD) announced that it should be easier to get filming permits during a conversation with Kirsten Niehuus, head of Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg.

In the future there will be a central contact point in Berlin where they will be issued. In addition, an increase in film funding by 3.5 million to 17.2 million had just been decided in the Berlin budget.

“The competition never sleeps.” Every film shot in Berlin is also an advertisement for the city.

Giffey was also optimistic that the DFFB would move to a new building on Friedrich-Krause-Ufer after the end of the lease in the Sony Center in 2025. “One of the most modern film schools in the world is being built there.”
