Berlin Thunder can still win in the European League of Football (ELF). With 34:7 (13:0) the capital city footballers won at the Cologne Centurions.
After two defeats, head coach Johnny Schmuck’s team was finally successful again. Both teams now have a record of two wins and three defeats in the current ELF season.
Thunder initially took the lead with a field goal. The next drive by the Berliners was also successful. Jocques Crawford got into the end zone for his sixth touchdown of the season. Thunder extended the lead to 10:0.
In the second part of the game, the overall picture changes little at first. Kicker Jonas Schenderlein also converted his second field goal and thus increased to 13:0. Compared to the previous week, when only kicker Jonas Schenderlein set the positive accents, this time it was a solid team performance that helped the team in the cathedral city to victory. Because Thunder scored points with all three parts of the team that afternoon.
The guests from the Spree put their stamp on the game from the start and only allowed the home side to touchdown in the second half. But then the Berliners were already leading 20-0. Cologne was simply too harmless that afternoon to counter Thunder’s variable game with anything effective.
Berlin Thunder will welcome the Wroclaw Panthers team to the Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Sportpark next weekend. Kick-off is Sunday, July 10 at 3 p.m.
