The Berlin stages and orchestras also have a meager visitor record in the second Corona year 2021.

As the Berlin Senate Culture Administration announced on Thursday, the institutionally funded theatres, orchestras and dance groups sold just over a million tickets last year.

In the first Corona year 2020 there were even fewer, namely around 920,000. Before the corona pandemic, the number in 2019 was 3.3 million tickets sold.

The facilities were closed for months in 2021 as a result of the corona pandemic and had to significantly reduce their regular space due to stricter hygiene regulations. Culture Senator Klaus Lederer (left) spoke of the “second tough year in a row”. According to the statistics, the most visitors came from the Friedrichstadt-Palast (153,865), the Berlin Philharmonic (98,477) and the Staatsoper Unter den Linden (81,565).
