The German Skating Union loses two of the most successful couples in recent years. As the DEU announced on Monday, pair skaters Minerva Hase/Nolan Seegert and ice dancers Katharina Müller/Tim Dieck will go their separate ways in the future. Both duos competed at the Olympic Winter Games in Beijing.
The Berliners Minerva rabbit/ Nolan Seegert recently celebrated one of their greatest successes with fifth place at the World Championships in Montpellier.
The World Cup was also the last joint competition of the three-time German champions, who had been a couple on the ice since 2014.
At the Beijing Games, her participation was affected by Seegert’s corona quarantine. As a result, he had a slump in the freestyle. Both only ended up in 16th and last place.
Minerva Hase would like to continue her career in the upcoming Olympic cycle with a new partner. “I was able to learn a lot from Nolan as a young runner, I’ve grown a lot as a person and as an athlete in recent years. I am very grateful to him for that,” said the 23-year-old. Seegert, who was six years older than him, left his sporting future open.

The Dortmund ice dancers Müller/Dieck want to continue their career with other partners. At the Winter Games in Beijing, they had missed the freestyle final. “Katharina and I had a special and unique connection, something you don’t find that easily,” said Dieck.
DEU wants to support the two couples in further career planning. “We are counting on them being able to successfully continue their sporting future with new partners,” said DEU sports director Claudia Pfeifer.
